About Toowoomba Road Runners
The group has been operating for 27 years and was established by Albert Van Der Wyk, joined a little while later by Roger Guard.
Their aim was to build members fitness and prepare members for the various races being offered around southern Qld. They also encouraged runners to have fun and enjoy the fresh air while running past the many scenic vistas that Toowoomba offers.
These aims remain today for those runners who wish to compete but the group has broadened its focus to encourage jogger and walker participation.
Toowoomba Road Runners (TRR) enjoys a strong association with charity groups, for example the Endeavour Foundation. TRR hold six events each year to raise funds for charity.
TRR also coordinates a series of school running events that compliments the Darling Downs Schools Athletic Association program as a precursor for the Qld Zone and State championships.
TRR has organised the Toowoomba Marathon, Carnival Half Marathon and the King & Queen of the Range races for many years. You can download a history of each of these events here:
